A little waterfall on Rapid Creek in Rapid City, SD.
Photographed: 9/15/2007

While walking along Rapid Creek in Rapid City South Dakota, I happened upon this small waterfall. Total drop maybe 2 feet. It was just a perfect shot, so I just had to setup my camera and take a shot.

Even tho the depth of field did not call for an apperture as high as I used, I wanted a nice slow exposure. I wanted to catch the waterfall effect that a slow exposure can create. A fast exposure here would just catch the water dropets. So, I set the apperture as high as it would go and set the exposure to a setting that would balance the intensity between the hot spots and the underexposed areas. The water reflecting off the water made for some truly bright spots but the overly exposed areas are as not too prevelant. Over all, I would rate this as a very nice "picture" or a borderline "photograph". What do you think?
