Lightining over Ellsworth AFB SD
Photographed: 8/19/2007

Lighting shots are very interesting and challenging shots to take. They are a challenge to catch (unless you use an optical sensor to trip the shutter) and spend most of the time just waiting for the lightning to strike. The very fact of catching a lightning bolt is enough to make it worthy of being a "picture".

The exposure is obviously long by the background being so grey. A lightning bolt between clouds is not as interesting as a ground strike. The fact that there is nothing to reference it too is also a mark against this shot. This shot, even tho a real pain to take, is only a "picture".
